Frequently Asked Questions

  • What size mower do I need for my property?

The right mower depends on more than acreage. At Marietta Outdoor Power, we help customers choose a mower based on property size, terrain, hills, obstacles, gate openings, mowing frequency, and how quickly they want to get the job done.

As a general starting point, smaller residential properties may be well suited to a 42–48 inch deck. For larger properties, 52–61 inch zero-turns can significantly reduce mowing time. Large acreage and commercial applications may benefit from 60–72 inch commercial machines.

Terrain is especially important here in southeastern Ohio and the Mid-Ohio Valley. If your property has steep or uneven ground, we’ll help you select a machine with the traction, stability, deck configuration, and power appropriate for your property.

  • What is the best mower for hills and steep property?

Choosing the right mower for hills requires more than simply selecting a certain horsepower or deck size. Traction, machine width, center of gravity, weight distribution, tire configuration and the severity of the slope all matter.

Marietta Outdoor Power specializes in helping customers find mowing equipment for the hilly terrain common throughout southeastern Ohio and the Mid-Ohio Valley.

We carry several residential and commercial mower configurations and can help determine whether a zero-turn, stand-on mower, lawn tractor or other machine is the appropriate choice for your property.

Bring us pictures of your property—or stop in and describe what you’re mowing—and we’ll help you narrow down the right machine.

  • What’s the difference between a residential and commercial zero-turn mower?

Residential zero-turns are designed primarily for homeowners mowing their own property. They generally cost less and use lighter-duty frames, transmissions, seats, decks, and other components.

Commercial zero-turns are engineered for considerably more operating hours and demanding conditions. Depending on the model, they can offer heavier fabricated decks, stronger transmissions, larger engines, improved suspension and seating, higher mowing speeds, larger fuel capacity, and components designed for easier service.

You don’t have to own a landscaping company to benefit from a commercial mower. A homeowner with several acres, rough terrain, steep hills, or a desire to keep a mower for many years may be better served by commercial equipment.

We can compare residential and commercial machines side-by-side at Marietta Outdoor Power so you can determine whether the additional capability and durability justify the investment.

  • How do I choose between the mower brands you sell?

Marietta Outdoor Power carries a wide selection of residential and commercial mowing equipment, including Wright, Ferris, Bobcat, Walker, Husqvarna. There isn’t one brand that’s automatically best for every customer.

Wright is an excellent choice for customers looking for professional-grade stand-on and commercial zero-turn equipment, particularly when productivity and hillside capability are priorities.

Ferris is especially well known for commercial mowing equipment with suspension systems designed to improve operator comfort and maintain productivity on rough properties.

Bobcat offers a broad commercial mower lineup, including zero-turn and stand-on machines designed for demanding professional and property-owner applications.

Walker offers highly maneuverable front-mount mowing systems and specialized configurations, including excellent grass-handling and collection options.

Husqvarna gives homeowners a broad selection ranging from lawn tractors to residential and higher-end zero-turn equipment.

Instead of pushing one particular brand, we’ll help you compare machines based on your property, terrain, mowing hours, desired deck size, budget and intended use.

Our service department performs routine maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on outdoor power equipment. Services can include oil and filter changes, air and fuel filter replacement, spark plugs, blade replacement and sharpening, belt replacement, engine and electrical diagnosis, fuel-system repairs and other mechanical repairs.

We also offer seasonal maintenance programs, including our Winter Tune-Up Program, which has traditionally included discounted maintenance and pickup and delivery during the winter service season.

For service availability or to determine whether we can work on a particular machine, contact our service department with the manufacturer, model number and serial number.

  • Do you offer pickup and delivery for mower service?

Yes. Marietta Outdoor Power offers pickup and delivery service for outdoor power equipment. This is particularly useful for customers who don’t have a trailer or who have larger equipment that is difficult to transport.

Pickup and delivery availability and charges can depend on your location and the equipment being transported. Contact us with your address and equipment information and we can provide the applicable options.

Our Winter Tune-Up promotion may also include free pickup and delivery within the promotional service area.

  • Can you help me find replacement parts for my mower?

Yes. Marietta Outdoor Power has a dedicated parts department and can help identify replacement and maintenance parts for many types of outdoor power equipment.

The best information you can provide is the manufacturer, complete model number and serial number from the equipment’s identification tag. Engine model and specification numbers may also be needed for certain engine components.

Whenever possible, take a picture of the equipment’s model/serial-number tag before contacting us. This helps our parts department identify the correct component and reduces the possibility of ordering the wrong part.

  • Do you offer financing on mowers and outdoor equipment?

Yes. Marietta Outdoor Power offers financing options on qualifying equipment for approved customers.

Available programs vary by manufacturer, equipment and current promotions. Promotional financing can include 0% interest programs on qualifying equipment, while other programs may offer extended terms or alternative rates.

Because manufacturer programs change throughout the year, contact our sales department for the current financing options on the specific mower, tractor or equipment you’re considering.

We can also help you compare promotional financing with available cash rebates when applicable.

  • Do you service equipment purchased from another dealer?

Yes, you do not necessarily have to purchase your equipment from Marietta Outdoor Power to have it serviced here.

Our ability to service a particular machine depends on the manufacturer, model, parts availability and type of repair required.

For warranty work, manufacturer authorization and warranty policies can affect whether a repair can be performed and covered under warranty.

Contact our service department with your brand, model and serial number and we’ll determine what we can do for you.

  • Can I see or try a mower before buying?

Yes. We encourage customers to see, sit on and compare equipment in person before making a purchase.

Marietta Outdoor Power maintains a large selection of mowers and outdoor power equipment, allowing customers to compare deck sizes, seating positions, controls, visibility, machine size and overall operator comfort.

Depending on the equipment and availability, demonstrations may also be possible. Contact our sales department if there’s a particular model you’d like to see or demonstrate so we can make sure it’s available when you arrive.

  • Do you accept trade-ins or sell used equipment?

Yes. Marietta Outdoor Power accepts qualifying equipment on trade and periodically has used equipment available for sale.

Trade value depends on the equipment’s age, model, condition, hours, mechanical condition and current market value. Bringing the model and serial number, hours, photographs and information about the machine’s condition can help us evaluate a potential trade.

Used-equipment inventory changes frequently, so customers looking for a particular type of mower or tractor should contact our sales department for current availability.
